Studying Solar Irradiance Variability With Wavelet Technique
نویسنده
چکیده
The detection of variations in solar irradiance by satellitebased experiments during the last 17 years stimulated modelling e orts to help to identify their causes and to provide estimates for irradiance data when no satellite observations exist. Because of the lack of quantitative physical models of solar irradiance, the current empirical models have been developed with linear regression analysis, which can give only overall information about the physical origin of irradiance changes. In this paper we use wavelet and cross-correlation techniques to analyze the changes observed in total solar irradiance and its surrogates, including the Mg h & k core-to-wing ratio and the full disk integrated magnetic ux.

Variable solar irradiance as a plausible agent for multidecadal variations in the Arctic-wide surface air temperature record of the past 130 years
[1] This letter offers new evidence motivating a more serious consideration of the potential Arctic temperature responses as a consequence of the decadal, multidecadal and longer-term persistent forcing by the ever-changing solar irradiance both in terms of total solar irradiance (TSI, i.e., integrated over all wavelengths) and the related UV irradiance. The support for such a solar modulator c...
متن کاملA Wavelet Analysis of Solar Climate Forcing: I) Solar Cycle Timescales
We use the technique of wavelet analysis to quantitatively investigate the role of solar variability in forcing terrestrial climate change on solar cycle timescales (roughly 11 years). We examine the connection between mean annual solar irradiance, as reconstructed from sunspot and isotope records, and the climate, as proxied by two Northern Hemisphere surface air temperature reconstructions. B...
متن کاملENSO as a mediator of the solar influence on climate
Using a climate model of intermediate complexity, we simulate the response of the El Niño-Southern Oscillation (ENSO) system to solar and orbital forcing over the Holocene. Solar forcing is reconstructed from radiocarbon production rate data, using various scaling factors to account for the conflicting estimates of solar irradiance variability. As estimates of the difference since the Maun-der ...

متن کاملEstimation of Global Solar Irradiance Using a Novel combination of Ant Colony Optimization and Empirical Models
In this paper, a novel approach for the estimation of global solar irradiance is proposed based on a combination of empirical correlation and ant colony optimization. Empirical correlation has been used to estimate monthly average of daily global solar irradiance on a horizontal surface. The Ant Colony Optimization (ACO) algorithm has been applied as a swarm-intelligence technique to tune the c...
